Jenny Thomas spent more than 15 years searching for her birth mother. Little did she know, she was looking in all the wrong places.
When Thomas decided to go on a new TLC show, Long Lost Family, which helps reunite people with biological relatives, she found out she actually knew her birth mother, Nita Valdez. She was her former co-worker--for two years.
Jenny said, "I was just in shock. I had looked in so many faces for so many years, [thinking], 'Could that be her? Is she looking at me because she knows me?' All the while I had looked at the woman who once knew me as her daughter."
Jenny worked as a part-time patient care technician in the same hospital where Nita worked as a patient transporter. They talked daily and had a friendly working relationship.
See the rest of Jenny's story with her mom on an upcoming episode of the new series, which starts March 6.
