In the August issue of Simple Grace, author Debbie Macomber opens up about how she uses prayer for direction in all aspects of her life, from her writing to her relationships. Here she shares about how she reaches out to God for guidance—even in the grocery store parking lot:
“So many people feel they need to have long prayers with elaborate language,” she says. “But I remind myself that God is our Father. How would you speak to your father? So I practice short prayers throughout my day with my Father who loves me. Turning to God in every aspect of our lives, like in the grocery store. If I’m looking for a place to park, I’ll say, ‘Lord give me a parking spot.’ And my daughter will add, ‘Lord, remember mom is picky!’”
