Featured in our November media guide, author and founder of The Big Mama Blog, Melanie Shankle's latest book, Church of the Small Things, was so laugh-out-loud funny and poignant that Simple Grace just had to sit down with her to learn more! Here, Melanie shares how focusing on the small things has led her away from questioning her worth and into the path of God's peace:
"As women, we worry so much about whether we're enough and if we're doing enough," says Melanie. "It's so easy to feel behind in comparison to all of the huge things people are doing on social media, and those questions pop into your mind: 'Am I enough? Am I making a difference? Am I really supposed to take my kid to Disney World at three years old?!'
"For me, it's the small things, the daily faithfulnesses that allow me to meet God each morning with a heart that says, 'God, I will go where you show me today,' that give me peace and contentment in my daily life," she adds. "Being faithful where God puts you and doing the next thing that He puts in front of you matters. He sees everything you're doing and is using it for something else that He has for you, so no matter how small your life may seem, you matter right where you are."
