Simple Grace caught up with award winning singer/songwriter Ellie Holcomb to learn how she finally found peace in imperfection through God's love. Here she shares about a time she was feeling unsure of herself as a mother and how God helped her move forward:
"At one point I was worn-out and I prayed, Lord, I’m exhausted, I don’t know how I’m gonna do this mom thing. And the Holy Spirit answered. Not in an audible voice, but in this sense of feeling so held.”
“I was feeling so vulnerable and so weak and suddenly I felt held by such strong arms,” Ellie says. “It’s like God was saying to me, ‘I know I’ve given new life to you, but your daughter was Mine before she was yours, and I’m gonna take such good care of her. And I know I’ve given you the job of being her mom, but you’re still My daughter, and I’m gonna take such good care of you too.’”
With this “Ebenezer moment,” Ellie believes the Spirit was guiding her into the ultimate truth: “The truth is,” she explains, “that before we’re anything, adults with responsibilities and moms and dads or sisters or friends, we’re beloved sons and daughters of a most high God.”
