In the November issue of Simple Grace, bestselling author, television personality and pastor, Bishop T.D. Jakes shares how God's love has been his guiding light through 41 years of ministry, the death of his beloved mother, Odith, and in his day-to-day life. Here, Bishop Jakes explains how his connection to the Holy Spirit motivates him each and every day:
To juggle his multitude of responsibilities, Bishop Jakes says staying plugged into the Holy Spirit provides the energy and inspiration he needs. "One of the great reasons that Jesus taught the Kingdom in parables is because it's difficult to describe a spiritual things in human terms," he explains. "I don't like to preach without feeling the Holy Spirit and His touch on what I'm saying, so I feel the Spirit quite often. It is almost like what happens to a lamp—you never know how brilliant it is until you plug it in. To me, when I tap into the Holy Spirit, my effectiveness is multiplied exponentially because I'm tapped into an infinite resource, though I am a finite preacher."
