This seasonal twist on a classic is perfect for a Bible study group, a Sunday morning or anytime you want to savor a sweet treat—and you probably have lots of the ingredients already on hand!
Berry Nutty Crumb Cake
Active time: 15 min. Total time: 45 min. Serves: 9
* 1 (16.5 oz.) pkg. butter cake mix, like Duncan Hines
* 8 Tbs. softened butter, divided
* 3 Tbs. brown sugar
* 1⁄2 tsp. ground cinnamon
* 1 cup chopped walnuts, divided
* 3⁄4 cup chopped dried cranberries, divided
* 2 large eggs
For crumbs: Pour 11⁄4 cups dry cake mix into mixing bowl. Add 3 Tbs. butter, brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Using fork, mix together until moist crumbs form. Stir in 1⁄2 cup chopped walnuts and 1⁄4 cup dried cranberries.
For cake: Using electric mixer, combine remaining cake mix and butter, 4 Tbs. water and eggs. Beat according to package directions. Stir in remaining walnuts and dried cranberries. Spread batter in baking pan; smooth out top. Sprinkle with crumbs.
Bake 33 min. or until done. Let cool before cutting.
