Rosemount, MN—The Salvation Army's Red Kettles are one of the most recognizable aspects of the Christmas season. Last year, the iconic buckets raised over $144 million and this year, due to the help of a couple who once relied on food scraps for survival, they're on track for another huge year.
The couple, who wishes to remain anonymous, left a $500,000 check in one of the buckets this weekend.
"You get to a point in life where it's time to take care of others, the way you were taken care of," the couple said.
