This Christmas gift came from a truly wise man.
The Texas nonprofit Children's Home, a homeless children's shelter, received an anonymous phone call in which the caller told the receptionist to go outside to the nativity scene and check underneath Jesus. Though the employee was confused, she did as she was instructed. And once there, she found an envelope holding a check for $50,000, made out to the organization.

Of course, this type of gift would be a blessing to any nonprofit, but it is especially amazing for this one, since about 75 percent of the funding comes directly from donations. And the kind stranger, who wishes to remain anonymous, had an incredible reason for making this choice.
"[The donor] said that one of the reasons he did it was that he gets to see our kids and…their interaction, how they treat each other and how they treat their house parents. And he was inspired by them," Darrin Murphy, the president of Children's Home, said.
Murphy added that it was a "huge" moment for the kids and made them feel "very excited" about this special time of year.
