“My daughter, Anna, had an important psychology exam that she’d been stressing about for a full month. The day of the exam, I fidgeted at work all morning—I was so nervous for her, it felt like I was the one taking the test! Right when I got out my cell phone to send Anna a bit of encouragement, my boss started texting me nonstop. She had an appointment downtown so she was remotely checking on things at the office and verifying her schedule for the week. I grew frustrated. I wanted to give my daughter comfort, offer advice and cheer, ‘Go, Anna!’ one more time before her exam…not deal with business.
“While sending my boss the information she needed, the perfect words suddenly came to me to send Anna. Hurriedly, I texted, ‘You don’t have to be nervous…just tell yourself the words from Philippians 4:13…I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ I pushed send and went back to my work, but within seconds my boss texted me again…and this time her words caught me by surprise. ‘How did you know?’ she asked. ‘I didn’t tell anyone I was at my doctor’s office to discuss the results of a biopsy. That’s my favorite Scripture and now I feel stronger. Thank you for reminding me God is with me!’
“With tears in my eyes, I realized I’d accidentally sent her the text I had meant for Anna, but then I realized…it wasn’t an accident after all. God knows who needs encouragement and knows exactly the right time to send it. And my spirit soared with joy that He used me to make sure that His message of love got delivered!” —JoAnn Solis, 47, Newtown, CT
