Rhoda Kirkpatrick and her daughter, Lola, were enjoying some family time at a local parade when Lola saw a man sitting on the sidewalk.
Kirkpatrick explained to Lola that he had no home so he had nowhere else to go and Lola quickly asked if they could give him something.
They went to a bakery across the street where Lola decided to order a sausage roll, "a warm one to warm his belly—because it's rainy and cold today."
She was a little nervous about approaching the man with her gift, but with some encouragement from her mother approached him with the food.
"I saw the tears in his eyes, and as he repeatedly said thank you, I knew it was something he wouldn’t forget," Kirkpatrick says. "I know I won't. I've never been prouder of her."
