In the June issue of Simple Grace, Christian singer, Mandisa reveals details about the loss of her best friend, her anger with God, and how she found His light again. Here Mandisa shares about turning away from God:
For years Mandisa had relied on the Lord for comfort and support, but in her pain, grief and anger that He’d allowed Kisha to be taken from her loved ones, Mandisa turned elsewhere.
“I didn’t trust God anymore,” Mandisa states. “So I started turning to my old friend—food—for comfort and isolating myself. I was angry at the world, so I sat in my recliner, watched television and stuffed myself. The enemy had me exactly where he wanted me.” The few times that Mandisa had booked concerts, she says there was no spirit behind her performances. “I didn’t want to sing ‘Overcomer’ because it reminded me of the hurt and disappointment that I felt,” she shares. “It was like salt in a gaping wound.”
