Six-year-old Zejd Coralic was always feeling left out in his school in Bosnia. Coralic was deaf, and all of his peers in class could hear, as well as his teacher, Sanela Ljumanovic.
Ljumanovic had tried communicating with Coralic using her own tricks and signs, but to no avail. So she decided to do something radical. She taught the entire class sign language so everyone would be able to communicate together, including Coralic.
Three months later, the students have mastered the basics of signing. And they are loving it.

Student Tarik Sijaric, said, "I like to learn Zejd’s language so I can talk to him and to other deaf people. It is fun."
But even better, this has had such a positive effect on Coralic.
His mother, Mirzana Coralic, said, "[Zejd] looks forward to going to school … now he is happy and motivated."
In the meantime, Ljumanovic is excited about his progress where this will take the child in the future.
"We are all happy as we are learning a new language," Ljumanovic said. "The goal, however, is also to teach Zejd to read lips … he is a good kid, a smart kid."
Bravo to all!
