The May issue of Simple Grace features the newest novel from Rachelle Dekker, daughter of prolific Christian writer Ted Dekker. Here, Rachelle opens up about the difficulty of writing and how God carries her through it.
“The Father leads me through the storm every time I sit down to write a new novel,” Rachelle says. “The pattern is almost always the same: Get really excited about starting a new book, write like mad till about halfway through, freak out because everything I’ve written so far is terrible, return to my Father and let Him remind me who I truly am and that I can do all things through Him, finish the novel. I would probably never get a novel written without Him being there with me in the hard places. Jesus is always teaching me about letting go. Letting go of my fears and doubts and expectations of myself and others. He is always reminding me that He is in control and that I can let go and rest in Him fully. And that is a beautiful thing.”
