Firefighters Tim Young and Paul Hullings had a rough day on the job. They had to spend 12 hours straight putting out a huge fire and clearing the area. It was rough on their bodies--and rough on their hearts.
It's no wonder why they stepped into a restaurant to order some strong coffee afterward. But what started as a simple debriefing over the fire turned into an unforgettable story of kindness and selflessness.

Their waitress, named Liz Woodward, couldn't help but overhear the firefighters' conversation about what they had just been through. But they didn't know she was listening until she handed them their bill.
Here's what it said:
The firefighters thanked Woodward profusely before posting about their experience on Facebook, encouraging their followers to "tip big" for her if they went to her restaurant.
But the story doesn't end there.
Young and Hullings later found out that Woodward's father was paralyzed and quadriplegic. They also found a fundraising page where Woodward was trying to buy a vehicle that would support his wheelchair. So the men knew they just had to share the page with everyone they knew.

Within days, so many donations had poured in that they far surpassed her original goal of $17,000. She had a whopping $70,000!
And Liz was blown away by their response.
"All I did was pay for their breakfast. I didn’t expect anything more than a smile," Liz said. "It goes to show that you just have to be kind to each other and that even the smallest gesture can change a life."
