A Romanian food shop owner was devastated when she arrived to find her store in England the target of an attack. The woman, named Maria, found her window had been smashed by a brick and a fire had been started inside.
"I was terrified, I was shaking," she said.
After all, Maria said she had never had trouble at the store in the past, but that someone had done this on purpose.
But after the scary crime came something wonderful--the outpouring of support from her local community. Locals set up a fundraising page for her, and it's already made £29,929 (the U.S. equivalent being $39,370).
As if that weren't amazing enough, they also covered her boarded up shop with supportive notes on heart-shaped pieces of paper.
It just goes to show that even in times of hate, love always wins.
