1,549 days is a long time. And it's an even longer time if you're spending it praying for a baby.
Heather Carpenter and her husband knew that feeling well, since they struggled with infertility and disappointing news from doctors for years. Carpenter wrote in an emotional open letter to her newborn son that they had even begun to question and doubt the plans that God had for their lives, since their bundle of joy was taking so long to arrive. But then, one spring day she took what had become a very routine pregnancy test and got the surprise of a lifetime.
"My breath got caught in my chest, my heart was pounding, and your Daddy could barely understand those two words I uttered through my blubbering mess, ‘I’m pregnant,'" she wrote.
Her husband didn't believe it at first, but once he understood, he began crying tears of joy. The happy couple stood there in the hallway, hugging and weeping together in happiness.
Now that Jack Atlas has arrived, he's been happy and healthy as can be. And he was actually there two weeks before his due date. So it looks like their prayers were more than answered!
