A single mother of three couldn't believe she won $200 from a scratch-off ticket. Sofia Lorena was so excited to put all that money to use. But soon after her big win, she met someone that changed her mind about just what she would use that money for.
She looked up and saw Glenn Williams, a homeless man who was crying and shaking as negative wind chill temperatures hit his face. She offered him coffee, and after he accepted, she learned that he did not know where he would be sleeping that freezing night.
"It was then I knew why I won the $200," Lorena wrote in a Facebook post. "God placed Glenn in my path for a reason."
Lorena's ticket win had barely registered when she decided to give it all away so Williams could have a two-night stay in a local hotel. Then, she launched a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for Williams so he could get back on his feet. It's since raised more than $15,000.
Lorena is now working on securing a long-term accommodation for Williams, who couldn't believe this stranger's act of kindness.
"She deserves a lot of the credit for where I am right now," Williams said. "I'm overwhelmed with all the help and I just want to thank everybody."
