In the January issue, Simple Grace highlights Heroines of the Old Testament, an adult coloring book featuring some of the most famous female figures in the Bible. Here, Betsy opens up about the sacredness of her daily prayer life and why she doesn't make New Year’s resolutions.
Betsy finds special communion with God through nature.
“A twilight bike ride on a trail along a river restores my soul,” Betsy says. “Remembering that Jesus is my shepherd helps me to dispel doubt.”
Betsy fills her days with prayer, and her conversations are completely reserved for God’s ears alone. “Daily prayer for me is personal interaction with God—a time of thanksgiving, petition, praise, confession, etc. It’s like a conversation. I name names. It’s such a private thing,” she explains.
As the New Year comes around, Betsy also offers helpful insight into why she doesn’t make a traditional New Year’s resolution.
“I think the New Year is a good time to reflect upon the blessings of the past year and to confirm our hope in the future,” Betsy says. “I don’t make big resolutions—just little ones every morning.”
