Tricia Lott Williford
Tricia Scott Williford went through the unimaginable—her husband died suddenly in her arms, leaving her with two young boys and a heart overwhelmed with grief. In the January issue of Simple Grace, she shares the inspiring story of her journey from despair to hope
Several years after her husband Robb’s death, Tricia was at McDonald’s with her sons and gave $10 to a homeless man. The man ate his food at the table next to hers and they made conversation. As Tricia and the boys were leaving, he looked into her eyes and said something that altered the course of her future.
“He told me to make sure the boys knew the book of Philippians, especially the fourth chapter,” Tricia recalls. “I broke out in goosebumps as he recited Philippians 4:13 with such passion and clarity.” ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ It had been Robb’s favorite passage. Robb claimed that verse. It was part of his identity,” says Tricia. “To hear someone else speak it so gently was a sacred moment.”
