Mourning a loved one is never an easy task. At times it can even distract us from what's happening around us.
For Gina Penny-Headen, it was the recent death of her dad that had her driving lost in thought when she got pulled over. The grieving daughter had been going over the speed limit, but the police officer let her off without a ticket for a surprising reason: they were born on the same exact day and year.
When she thought he had walked away, she broke down in tears. Moments later, she was shocked to hear someone knocking on her window. The officer had returned to ask if she was okay; Gina explained that her dad's recent passing had triggered her crying. He calmed her down and talked with her for a minute before helping her back into traffic.
The next week, Penny-Headen received a card in the mail from the man who pulled her over, Deputy Dan Hill of Illinois's St. Clair County Sheriff's Department. Not only did Hill share his condolences but also a Bible verse in honor of her father's death.
Gina shared the touching story on Facebook, and now we can see the unexpected ways the police can come to your rescue.
