On January 6, celebrate Epiphany, or Three Kings’ Day, with the little ones in your life as you make these sweet candleholders representing the Magi who journeyed to honor baby Jesus with gold, frankincense and myrrh
- 3 glass jars
- Acrylic paints (in an array of colors)
- Shiny scrapbook paper
- Star-shaped stickers
- Faux gems and pearls
Step 1: Paint the inside top half of each jar with a flesh-tone hue; let dry. Press stickers on the outside bottom half of jars. Paint over the area to create kings’ outfits; let dry and remove stickers.
Step 2: For each hat, wrap a piece of bright paper to fit around the top of the jar, cut out a hat design, then glue the paper ends together. Decorate each with gems, stickers or glitter.
Step 3: For each beard, snip a piece of paper into a rectangle that fits halfway around the jar. Make slits on the bottom half of the rectangle to form the beard. Use scissors to curl each strip. Glue the beard to the jar. Glue on two more strips for hair.
Step 4: Glue circles of paper to the jars as eyes. Paint three gems to create noses; glue onto jars. Draw on smiles. Pop battery-run tea lights into each jar.
