Jessica Cox wasn't supposed to come home that month. And she wasn't supposed to be picked up by her father at the Nashville airport.
But both those things happened. And she's so glad they did.
Cox had decided to come home at the last minute for some special events, and her mother couldn't come to the airport. That's why her dad got her. As they were driving along the highway in Tennessee, they were having a nice daddy-daughter moment.
But then, her father pulled off to the side of the road. He put the car in reverse. And then he went back a half a mile.
Cox wrote in a Facebook post, "I wasn’t sure what was happening, but then I saw her."
She was a woman lying face down in a ditch on the side of the road having a seizure. Though many cars passed by, none of them stopped. Except her dad's.
Her father got out of the car and helped the woman stand up, offering a Powerade for her to drink. Then he led her to their vehicle and cranked up the air conditioning so that she could recuperate. After several minutes passed, she was finally able to tell them what happened.
Apparently, she had been walking for the past four hours--in 80 degree weather. And she had dropped her phone along the way. She slowly remembered her phone number, so they called her mom and were finally able to take her home where she belonged.
"I firmly believe that this woman was put on our path for a reason, and I’m so thankful that we were in the right place at the right time," Cox wrote. "My dad has always been the good I see in the world, and I am so grateful for his kind heart towards others."
What an inspiration to us all!
