“I glanced out my kitchen window and saw my bird feeder hanging empty, without a feathered friend in sight. I’d hung it up at the beginning of spring and every week since, I’d filled it with seeds. But now, months later, I still didn’t have a single visitor.
“The truth was that my entire life had turned into a perpetual waiting game. I’d put our house up for sale and hadn’t had a nibble. I’d sent an email to a potential employer and I’d gotten no response. Each day I grew more frustrated and impatient. ‘This is for the birds,’ I scowled out loud to God. ‘Pun intended.’
“The day after my outburst, I shuffled into the kitchen to make my coffee, when to my surprise, I saw a flutter out of the corner of my eye. There, perched on the feeder was the most glorious blue jay I’d ever seen. Holding my breath, I inched closer to the window and watched it peck at the seeds. As soon as it flew off, another bird arrived, and before long, there were dozens of chirpers of all colors and kinds, eating and singing their sweet songs.
“I leaned against the counter and laughed out loud, amazed at how God brings us more than we can ever imagine…I just have to trust in His timing. With a prayer for Him to take my worries and impatience, I let go and let God.”
