Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Laura Story opens her heart on how tragedy and unanswered prayers helped her journey closer to God and uncover His love shining bright in her darkest moments
Laura opens up to Simple Grace about the unbelievable curveball her family was thrown when her husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and how this trial delivered unexpected blessings in her life.
“My husband and I had grown up believing that God is good, that God is all-loving and all-powerful. So it’s hard to understand why a good and loving God wouldn’t just fix something with the snap of His fingers,” Laura admits.
“The questions become: How do we continue to live out our faith and our life when it might look different than the life we expected? How do we continue to trust God, who doesn’t answer our prayers the way we think He should, or not in the time frame we expect? But I’ve learned that’s what faith is: believing God has a purpose for all the things we walk through.”
"The way that I've experienced God," Laura adds, "the lessons I've learned, and not just about walking with the Lord but how to cherish my family and what's important in life, I would never have known it any other way."
Laura also shares about the unexpected spiritual wisdom she learns from her children and how she has redefined wisdom. She shares even more about her incredible faith journey in her new book When God Doesn't Fix It: Lessons You Never Wanted to Learn, Truths You Can't Live Without (Thomas Nelson, 2015; Paperback $17, Kindle $11, Nook $11)
