Lee Parker, who had been homeless for several years, finally got a job interview. But he desperately needed a bag for it, which he didn't have. So he and his friend Ivan White went searching the New Jersey streets earlier in September for an abandoned bag.
But when they found one, they saw something so chilling inside.
There were bombs and wiring--which could have gone off at any time. The two quick-thinking men grabbed the bag and immediately moved it to a remote area, alerting the police before anything went off. In short, they potentially saved the lives of hundreds of people.
Parker said, "Hero? No. I wouldn’t go that far. [I was] doing the right thing."
Even so, his actions moved local resident Donald Goncalves to start a fundraising page for Parker to help him get on his feet.
Before long, the page had reached more than $25,000 in donations.
The money will be split between the two men. And even better? Parker finally has a home now thanks to the fundraising.
