- Balsa wood sheet
- Hobby knife
- Bright scrapbook paper
- Hole punch
- Paint pen
- Craft glue
- Clear craft “gloss”
- Small cross charm
Step 1: To create each bookmark, carefully cut a 2" square out of a sheet of balsa wood (from the craft store) using a hobby knife. Then snip a sheet of patterned scrapbook paper into a 2" square and punch a hole through the top of the square.
Step 2: Write one of your favorite verses (like Romans 12:9) on the scrapbook square with a paint pen; let dry. Glue the paper on top of the wood square; let dry. Coat the entire front and back of the square (avoiding the hole-punched area) with a clear craft gloss (like Inkssentials Mini Glossy Accents, $4 for 18 ml, JoAnn.com). Let dry to create a clear hardened overlay.
Step 3: Snip three 12"-long pieces of thin ribbon. Hold ribbon pieces together and thread a small cross charm (from the craft store) onto them. Insert the ribbons through the hole. To finish, braid ribbons and knot at the top ends to secure.
