Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Michael W. Smith shares his prayer tips for asking God to give him wisdom, understanding and strength to get through each day, and expressing gratitude to bring God to the forefront of his heart. Here, he discusses how he quiets himself to hear what God really has to say:
“God just wants to have a relationship with each one of us, and I think one of the ways to cultivate that is to spend time together in stillness,” Michael assures. “Whether I’m at my farm, in a hotel room on tour or listening to my Bible app, I will seek out that stillness away from the noise and ask, ‘God, what do You want to say to me?’ That quiet time trains me to listen and be in the moment with Him. It helps to get rid of my preconceived ideas of who He is so I can see who He truly is.”
