The May issue of Simple Grace features an exclusive interview with radio host Nicole Smith. Here’s a sneak peek:
For years, Nicole Smith lived in shame because of the sexual abuse she endured as a child, but last year, Nicole says God’s purpose for her painful journey became clear after she interviewed Amanda Zarate, founder of Fighting for Me, an organization that offers free counseling to victims of sexual abuse. “God led me to Amanda and she helped me see after all these years that the abuse wasn’t my fault,” says Nicole. Amanda also encouraged Nicole to help other victims of abuse by sharing her story on the radio. “Breaking my silence and stepping out of the shadows of shame and into the light of love made me feel whole again—this freedom and God’s amazing love empowered me to finally forgive my abusers.”
Today Nicole trusts God through thick and thin. “I’ve learned that I can’t make my own way in the darkness, but God’s light always shows me the way,” she says. “I’m proof God’s love heals any hurt—it never fails!”
