Tensions have been high in Taunton, MA ever since a fatal stabbing spree broke out recently in a home and a restaurant in a shopping mall. Though the suspect was killed by police, the staff at the restaurant are still very much on edge.
They even had a cop from their local police department on duty, assigned to keep them safe.
So Officer Josh DeOliveira of the Taunton police department was detailing the restaurant to try to keep the staff members calm and relaxed in the aftermath of the senseless violence. But then, he suddenly did something shocking.
He handed each server an envelope. Inside each of the envelopes was $100. It was all split evenly from the money he made from protecting the restaurant.
Employee Kristen Sutherland wrote about the emotional moment in a viral Facebook post.
She said, "He wants us to feel supported and restore our faith in people. The tears keep running. I am so overwhelmed by love in a time of distress. Miracles happen and there are every day heroes all around us."
Clearly, Josh is one of them!
