in the April issue of Simple Grace, Rory Feek opens up about God's powerful presence in his life during his wife Joey's illness and passing. Here's a sneak peek:
“Do you think God is going to heal me?” Joey Feek asked quietly as she looked into her husband Rory’s sad eyes. He didn’t want to answer such a question…but he knew he had to. Rory couldn’t lie to his wife after all she’d been through—the painful treatments, the tears, the prayers. “No, honey,” he replied. “I don’t think He is.”
“I didn’t think so,” Joey sighed, and smiled the sweetest smile. “That’s okay,” she added, “I got to experience everything I wanted to. I’m ready now.”
Today, a little more than a year later, Rory looks back on that conversation in awe. Of Joey’s strength. Of her unshakable faith.
“Joey never stopped believing that [healing] was possible, and she believed it right up until then,” Rory shares in his new book, This Life I Live: One Man’s Extraordinary, Ordinary Life and the Woman Who Changed it Forever.
Rory also watched Joey’s love for God grow stronger until the day they said their worldly goodbye on March 4, 2016. “You can’t watch the woman you love go through what Joey went through and not be changed,” he tells Simple Grace. “Changed by her. Changed by God. Changed by her faith and how she lived it out to the end of the line.
