Christian cookbook author and radio host Shellie Rushing Tomlinson shares how to incorporate Jesus’ love into every meal. Here, Shellie shares how whipping up a good meal in the kitchen for your loved ones is the perfect opportunity to talk to God:
Whether we’re cooking a family feast from scratch or simply warming up takeout for ourselves, we all spend a little time in the kitchen each day—and Shellie insists that’s the perfect moment to “love on” God. “I most definitely find myself praying in the kitchen because there’s such joy in doing all the little things in life with the Lord,” Shellie beams. “If I’m stirring something, I might ask Him to search and sift my heart. If I’m kneading dough, I think of the aching sweet pleasure of being molded by One who heals as He corrects, loves as He directs and restores as He examines. Or if I’m measuring ingredients, I praise Him for His unlimited love and I thank Him that Jesus forever ‘measured up’ for me. I try to allow every act I do in the kitchen remind me of God’s loving presence and His powerful promises.”
