Bringing the light of the Lord into our hearts and homes is easy with this lovely crafted candle. Use the double wicks during prayer as a point of reflection on your nearness to Jesus…now and forever
- nested pans
- 2–4 candlesticks
- candle thermometer
- wicks (from craft store)
- wick sustainers
- wooden skewer
- old teacup
Step 1: Use a double boiler to melt down 2 to 4 old candlesticks (depending on the cup size); use a cooking thermometer to make sure the temperature stays at 185°F. Remove wicks with tongs.
Step 2: Cut a length of wicking (from the craft store) to the cup’s height plus 11⁄2 inches. Attach one end to a wick sustainer; tie the other end around a skewer. Dip wicking and sustainer into wax to coat them. Remove, then stick sustainer to cup’s bottom.
Step 3: Carefully pour the melted wax into the teacup, stopping 1⁄2 inch below the rim. Allow wax to dry. Trim wick and light.
