The latest issue of Simple Grace features Lee Strobel, New York Times bestselling author of The Case for Christ. Here, he shares about the mysterious medical incident that threatened to take his life, but in the end only strengthened his bond with Jesus.
"A few years ago, [my wife] Leslie found me comatose on the floor," Strobel shared. "I awakened in the emergency room, where the doctor said, 'You're one step away from a coma, two steps away from dying.' I was on the edge of eternity for several days as I struggled to recover from a medical anomaly that was threatening my life."
Strobel eventually recovered, and is now thankful for the illness that forced him to rely on God in an entirely new way.
"God not only carried me through this crisis, but as a result of the illness I was drawn into a more profound relationship with Him," Strobel said. "I can look back now and authentically say I'm grateful for this painful episode in my life because the end result was a stronger faith and a deeper connection with God."
