The August issue of Simple Grace features an exclusive interview with Olympic sprinter Sanya Richards-Ross where she shares the secret to her many successes. Here's a sneak peek:
You’d think an Olympian would get used to the intense pressure of competition, but just like all of us, Sanya says her nerves can still get the best of her. And it’s during those anxious times that she feels God’s presence the most. One such moment came as she stood on the starting line at the 2012 meet, the Prefontaine Classic.
“I was so nervous and terrified and wanted to win more than anything,” she recalls. With the wind howling around her, suddenly a quiet voice within her said, Peace, be still. “Instantly, the wind stopped blowing, and I had a peace in my spirit that I had never felt before. It was as if God was holding me up and giving me the perfect example that He is with me in all circumstances.” Sanya ran victoriously that day, but she says she had an even greater victory: “That was a God moment for me and I realized that the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are there for me to lean on in all circumstances.”
