BREMERTON, W.A.—Last month an assistant football coach at Bremerton High School, Joe Kennedy, was reprimanded by school officials for his practice of praying on the field after games.
Kennedy continued to pray, but no longer invited players to join him. After losing the homecoming game, he knelt on the field to pray in solitude when something incredible happened.
"All of a sudden I feel all these bodies around me," Kennedy said. "And I'm hoping they're not kids."
He looked up when his prayer was finished to find himself surrounded by players, coaches and fans of the team. The emotional moment moved the combat veteran to tears.
"I’m not a guy who hides in a corner and does a secret prayer to God,” he said. “I’m very open about my faith everywhere I go.”
