Carole Adler had been grieving the death of her veteran son Taylor Thyfault ever since he was killed in the line of duty earlier this year. In the midst of her sadness, she decided to send him a text message. What she didn't expect was to get a response—and a sign from above.
Carole received a text that said, “I don’t think your texts are going where you think they are.”
Understandably, she was shocked to hear back from the number, but it didn't take her long to figure out the recipient. As it turned out, the texts were going to Sgt. Kell Husley, of the Greeley Police Department. Kell had gotten a new phone, but with Taylor's old phone number, and after he heard Taylor's story from Carole, he offered to change the number.
But Carole knew that Kell's job was something her son wanted to do and would have made him proud, so she told him to keep it. She knew instantly that her son was watching over her. And she knows he still is, as she and Kell still text each other from time to time.
