Mom Desiree Correa was having a terrible day at the grocery store. On top of battling cancer and missing several days of work due to doctor's appointments and surgeries, she found out she couldn't afford her groceries.
While in the checkout line with her three daughters, Desiree realized she didn't have as much money as she thought she did on her card, so she was forced to put most of her groceries back.
She began crying as soon as she walked out of the store, right in front of her children. Little did she know, someone was watching her. Officer M. McAllister, of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, approached her and asked what happened.
After Desiree told him the whole story, the kind police officer took the whole family back in the store and purchased all the groceries she needed for her. He gave her a positive pep talk, and best of all, he put a smile on her little girls' faces.
Is it any wonder why she called him her "hero" that day?
